Description

The Dover School District is planning to develop a police department as part of our school system for the 25-26 school year. We will employ two School Resource Officers. Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for the position of police officer with the Dover Public Schools Police Department:
  • Valid Arkansas Driver’s License: Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license from the state of Arkansas.
  • Clean Disciplinary Record: Applicants must have no prior history of disciplinary actions that would impair their ability to serve as a law enforcement officer.
  • Background Investigation: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, which includes criminal, employment, financial, and personal history checks.
  • Basic Police Academy Completion: Must have successfully completed the Basic Police Academy through the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA).
  • SRO Certification: Must complete required School Resource Officer (SRO) certification within one year of appointment to the position.
  • Drug Test: Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

 

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required for applicants seeking the position of School Resource officer:

  • Certified Law Enforcement Officer: Preference will be given to candidates who are already certified as law enforcement officers in the state of Arkansas.
  • Experience Working with Youth: Prior experience working with children and adolescents in an educational or similar setting is preferred.
  • Previous SRO Experience: Experience as a School Resource Officer is highly desirable.
  • Crisis Intervention Training: Preference will be given to candidates with crisis intervention or de-escalation training.
  • Advanced Law Enforcement Certifications: Candidates with advanced certifications in law enforcement (e.g., ALERRT Active Shooter, Firearms instructor, etc.) preferred.
